This research shows a gap hitherto greatly neglected. Much has been done concerning the influence of French and Italian literature upon Chaucer's works, but little has been done about the possible influence of Spanish upon Chaucer's works. The author hopes to close this gap, at least in part. Don Juan Manuel's El Conde Lucanor is a collection of tales and probably the greatest literary work of the Spanish litarature in the XIV century. A deep analysis reveals how some of these Spanish tales are analogues for tales of The Canterbury Tales, and two of them may have been sources.
